An artefact of femininity, woodwork
and sacredness.
A boob made out of wood, using the natural tones of wood to suggest skin tones, crafted on a wood-lathe.
The shape is an archetypal representation of a boob, symmetrical, due to the making process of woodturning.
In addition to the shape, the wood colour and grain is what gives each piece a unique personality.
A boob holds powerful meanings. It can be a symbol of resistance, it can be nourishing, it can be obscene, it can be political, it can be empowering amongst many other things. In this project, I want to celebrate the liberated breast.

Wood Boobs are turned on a wood-lathe in my workshop in London.
Each boob is the result of a “conversation” with the selected wood and how it
naturally interacts during the making process.
RESPONSIBLY SOURCED WOOD
The wood I use is responsibly sourced in England by the London-based wood supplier Saunders Seasonings.
Offcuts found in my workshop are also used, mainly for the nipple part.
I carefully select timbers that have interesting patterns going on.
